As a portrait photographer of over 14 years, I started my photography journey as a crafty teen with a dozen hobbies and a father with a passion for documenting family vacations. Born and raised on the Outer Banks, I currently reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. My lens started as a tool to record our time together as a family and has evolved to become a conduit for building community and self discovery. Through my photography I aim to express the visions and emotions that the people I am portraying invoke within me.
Specializing in directing and maintaining an environment of comfort, my work is an attempt to explore the diverse tapestry of human connection and desire. My subjects join me in a synchronized flow state where we create something together often beyond our own understanding. I have no interests, only obsessions, and I am obsessed with capturing the feelings invoked within my mind. I feel as though lightning strikes and it’s my duty to channel every bolt I can into the earth through the physical manifestation of my photographs.
I am a staunch supporter of decolonization, queer rights, and environmental restoration. I draw my inspiration most from those who uphold similar values, and it is my hope that my art emboldens and celebrates all humans in the search for critical consciousness.
"Even a wounded world is feeding us. Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy, I choose joy over despair. Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily and I must return the gift."
